Fees at Nīkau School

At Nīkau School, we are deeply committed to making our educational program as accessible as possible, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to benefit from what we offer.

While the New Zealand government provides limited financial support for independent schools, we strive to keep fees at a level that only covers the essential costs of running the school, including staff salaries in line with state school agreements, and other operating expenses. With the increase in smaller independent schools following Covid, funding per student has gradually been reduced, making it more important than ever for us to remain efficient and focused on delivering a high-quality education.

We understand that financial constraints can be a barrier, and we work closely with families to explore flexible options and find solutions that can help overcome these challenges. We are actively working on creating opportunities for scholarships, grants, and fundraising initiatives to further support our students and their families. Our goal is to foster a supportive, inclusive community where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.

The fees help to cover:

  • Salaries for our dedicated staff

  • Operating expenses (water, power, rent, rates, insurance, etc.)

  • Art supplies for creative exploration

  • Professional development to ensure our staff remains highly trained and inspired

We are dedicated to ensuring that our school remains a place of growth, opportunity, and inclusivity for all.
